Technical Lead (Software Engineering)

Job description

At Versett, the technical lead plays a key role in project success both from a client-facing and internal viewpoint. You will be responsible for gathering requirements and scoping solutions which requires strong communication skills with both our clients and our team members across all disciplines.

The technical lead is highly involved in all decision making throughout the entire lifecycle of a project. While technically focused, your position works in tandem with project leads from design and strategy to build the best possible products for our clients.

Once solutions have been scoped and approved, your job is to lead a focused team of developers in the implementation of the product. Task assignment is done from this position, broken down as you see fit. Knowing your team's strengths and skillsets while providing valuable leadership and mentoring will be a vital part of the job.

The core competency of a technical lead is the ability to recommend technical solutions in collaboration with design and strategy leads, then work with a focused development team to implement them. This usually involves the following competencies:

  • Experience gathering requirements for large-scale projects and communicating potential solutions to clients and team members.
  • Ability to break down projects into clearly defined tasks and generate estimates of time for scope and budgeting purposes.
  • A wide breadth of experience across technical stacks. Leaning on your team's knowledge and communicating with them is always valuable.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.

These are some nice to haves that can be learned on the job:

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and project structures.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA or similar project management tools.

Love where you work

Our team is tight-knit and built on the philosophy of "learn better, faster". Versett was founded on a shared vision of a place where we can create meaningful work collaboratively, while continuing to grow and learn as individuals.

Benefits include:

  • Friday socials and Show 'n Tells
  • Team events and retreats
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Pledge Parental Leave partner
  • Learning & development budget
  • The hardware/software setup you need
  • "Take the time you need" vacation policy
  • Diverse team and a commitment to inclusion.
